After 42 years, Powers Jewelry (405 Slide Rd #115) is set to close by March 17th, 2018, according to their post on Facebook.

Powers Jewelry announces, after 42 Years We are having a STORE CLOSING LIQUIDATION SALE. Now through March 17th, 2018. All Fine Jewelry, will be 40 to 70 % off. All watches will be up to 40 % off. Come early for the best selection, all sales are FINAL, NO REFUNDS, NO EXCHANGES, NO EXCEPTIONS.

A follow-up post indicated that watches are now 50 percent off, and bridal sets are up to 60 percent off. Comments from the Powers Jewelry account indicated that they will still make simple repairs, but that more advanced repair jobs will not be available.

No reason was explicitly given for the close. However, Powers Jewelry commented that they hoped retirement won't be "too boring."

According to their website, Powers Jewelry is a third generation, family-owned business:

Family Owned and Operated Since 1976. Established in 1976 by Bonnye and Melvin Powers, Power’s Jewelry is a locally owned, third generation family business. Travis Powers the owner and son Duane who is third generation run the day to day operations of the repair and retail side of the store. Both attended the Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology in Paris, Texas. It is one of the oldest and most comprehensive, hands-on jewelry technology schools in the United States. They provide certified, professional jewelry and watch repair, one of the few repair shops of its kind anywhere in this region.

Powers Jewelry is still posting pictures of remaining stock regularly on their Facebook page, but I would recommend getting by there soon if your looking for something specific as inventory seems to be going quickly.
