New details have come out about the murder of Lubbock man Gabriel Salazar, who was found in the parking lot of the Carriage House Inn & Suites.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by Everything Lubbock, 26-year-old Raynaldo Jacob Enriquez and 26-year-old Geneva Monique Leal have both been charged with the murder, with the latter also facing one count of tampering/fabricating evidence.

Additionally, 27-year-old Jake Austin Johnson has been charged with murder and tampering/fabricating evidence for helping transport the body to the Carriage House. Another man who allegedly was with him, 22-year-old Dimitrise Lyghts, could also face a murder charge. Lyghts is facing separate charges for sex trafficking of a child.

Enriquez reportedly shot the 32-year-old Salazar while he was at Leal’s home. The warrant claims that Salazar did not die immediately from the gunshot wound, and that Leal was fine with that; she wanted him to suffer. She later hit Salazar with a baseball bat.

After the attack, Johnson and Lyghts allegedly brought a still-alive Salazar to the Carriage House and left him in the parking lot, where he eventually died.

Police were led to Johnson thanks to hotel surveillance footage, which captured images of his vehicle. From there, they learned of Leal and Enriquez and their alleged roles in the murder.

Salazar’s body was discovered Sunday morning (Jan. 8). Officers who responded called homicide detectives after seeing the condition of the body.

The motive for the murder is not yet clear.
