The Texas Tech Red Raiders played the Texas Longhorns last night in the Big 12 Tournament. The final was 73-69, but it wasn't a close game early.

The Red Raiders jumped out to a 14-2 lead on the Longhorns forcing the crew in burnt orange to claw their way back into the game. The Red Raiders fended Bevo off in the first half until a Mo Bamba 3 pointer cut the lead to 7 going into the second half.

With the momentum of the 3-pointer from the big man, the Longhorns kept it close. They even cut the lead to within three points with four minutes left in the game. With the scoreboard reading 60-57, Kerwin Roach got a fast break for the bad guys, but he couldn't avoid Zhaire Smith and his 44-inch vertical.

You might recognize the play from another guy who plays a little basketball: Lebron James.

The Zhaire Smith block re-energized the Red Raiders and shook the Longhorns who would never get closer to the Red Raiders than three points down.

Keenan Evans took over at the end of the game, scoring nine of the final 13 Texas Tech points. He finished with 25 points.

Jarrett Culver finished with the double double, featuring 13 points and 11 boards.

Niem Stevenson, Tommy Hamilton and Zhaire Smith all added 8 points.

The Red Raiders continue in the Big 12 Tournament tonight (Friday, March 9) at 8 p.m. against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
