I took a look at how wealth was spread across this great state of Texas to find out which county had the highest per capita income.

Loving County topped the list. But it also has the smallest population of any Texas county with just 39 households. Therefore, I'm thinking some rich family has skewed the numbers a LOT. So discounting Loving, who came in second?

Well, head about 75 miles south of Lubbock and you'll end up in Borden County, population 641. OK, OK, I know: with so few residents, the factual income levels might skew when looking from 30,000 feet.

So, what is the highest ranking, most populous county in Texas? Not surprisingly, it's just north of Dallas.

With a population of around 782,000 (thanks in no small part to the DFW metroplex), Collin County ranks at no. 4 in the state with a per capita income of $37,362. Collin also ranks no. 1 with a median annual family income of just under $100,000.

Lubbock County thankfully secured a place in the top 100 wealthiest counties in Texas (out of 254), coming in at 86. Check out the full list of wealthiest Texas counties.
