MSNBC produced a time-lapse video of the four days leading up to the launch of the final space shuttle mission. Atlantis is already in space as of this morning but they recorded this earlier this week. It shows the Space Shuttle Atlantis being checked out in its processing hanger, and towed to another building where they tilt it up on its end, then attach the fuel tank and the rocket boosters. Then they transport the whole thing to the launch pad while it's standing up. If you've never seen this its amazing. Just watching them lift the shuttle onto the rocket boosters is insane on its own. They actually lift the shuttle OVER the rockets and drop it back sown. How tall is that building they're in anyway? Say a fond farewell to the entire space shuttle program here.
