University Medical Center will be implementing a vaccine mandate for employees and workers in response to requirements from the federal government.
The mandate will require all credentialed hospital employees, students, and providers to have their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by December 5th, and be fully vaccinated by January 4th.
UMC officials say over 1,000 employees remain unvaccinated and this federal order affects over 17 million healthcare workers nation-wide. If deadlines are not met, all Medicare and Medicaid funding will be cut.
UMC says they will offer religious and medical options to employees who qualify.
