Two New Facebook Rumors, and One Is Mostly True!
Anytime you see something passed around with great frequency, it's time to do a little fact checking.
The first thing we can dismiss is the claim that if you accept a stranger's friend request that they can hack your account. It can't happen. It's not a thing; it's a post that's going around, but not an actual thing.
The second thing going around is a claim that someone is duplicating users accounts, then trying to get people to "re-friend" the page (which, of course, leads to phishing scams, ads and so on).
Snopes is rating this one "partially true." This is not a new thing, however, and the article validating the practice is from July. The claim that "almost accounts" are being duplicated isn't really true. It happens, just not that much.
