Two People Dead After Flight Leaves Lubbock, Crashes in Georgia

Update: The two people killed in the plane crash have been identified: 73-year-old Raymond Bachman of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and 63-year-old Claude Duschesne of El Paso, Texas.

Original story: A flight leaving Lubbock on Tuesday, October 5th, turned deadly after going through a storm and crashing in Georgia.

EverythingLubbock reports the plane, a Dassault Falcon business jet, took off from the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport just after 2 a.m. and was headed toward the Thomson-McDuffie County Airport in Thomson, Georgia. The airport hails itself as the largest general aviation facility in the Central Savannah River Area.

After a few hours of flight, the plane went missing. After authorities in the region were made aware of the missing plane they began a search, where they found the wreckage in a field west of the airport.

Two people were reported dead due to the crash, but as of the publication of this article, their identities have not been released.

A look at the weather in Georgia early that morning showed thunderstorms but overcast conditions near the airport at the time of the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the crash and will release the tail number of the plane after verification.
