Yes, the underdogs are ruling the pre-election polls this year, led by folks like Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina. Even Deez Nuts has been shown some love in polls.

Now, it appears that a 43-year-old Lubbock man is putting his name in the ring.

Tony Smitherman is your everyday typical blue collar member of the local work force. He dropped out of college and owns five record labels. And yes, he really has filed to run for president of the United States.

In an interview with Everything Lubbock, Smitherman revealed that he first filed for running back in 2012. He says he did it to "teach his children a lesson" that anything is possible. Instead of running as a Republican or Democrat, he and his friends have formed The Afterparty.

Check out the humorous video below as Smitherman gives some background on his history as a Lubbock native and his reasons for getting in the race.
