This Saturday Lubbock Is Having a ‘SlutWalk’ to End Sexual Assault Victim Shaming [VIDEO]

The 2015 SlutWalk Lubbock is happening. But what is a SlutWalk?

Started in 2011 after a Toronto police officer said that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized,” the SlutWalk is a chance to shine a light on sexual assault victim shaming. This is a huge problem all over the world, making women who are victims of sexual assault feel like they are at fault for being assaulted. The SlutWalk aims to take back the word slut and end the victim shaming that goes along with it.

Starting at 4 PM Saturday October 17th at MC Overton park, this years walk is a 2 mile walk and will also include live music, food, and guest speakers.
