The Retail Reaper Strikes Again – GameStop Could Close 150 Stores This Year
My co-workers have deemed me the Grim Reaper of retail. I always seem to talk about stores that are closing.
Well, the REAPER STRIKES AGAIN! This time, it's GameStop.
GameStop released their recent fourth quarter financial results, and it wasn’t good. The game retailer's profit fell by 16 percent and sales dropped by 14 percent.
What does that mean? According to our friends over at The Consumerist, it means 150 stores will close by the end of the year.
From The Consumerist:
"The plan to close stores was revealed after GameStop reported sales that had dropped by double digits in the fourth quarter."
Like any good Retail Reaper, I contacted several of the Lubbock GameStop locations, and like I always hear, they know nothing and it is still business as usual for all area locations.
Is it Game Over for any Lubbock GameStop stores? Only time will tell!
