Sunday morning around 9:05 a.m., New Mexico State Police officers responded to the scene of a fatal car crash. 

This crash occurred east of Fort Sumner, NM near mile marker 347 on U.S. 60/84.

The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Texas Tech student Jerry Davis, was traveling eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle, overturning it several times before it came to rest in the westbound lane.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passengers Ken Choi and Genesis Guevara sustained serious injuries and were airlifted from the scene to Lubbock’s University Medical Center.

Other passengers Hunter Hall and Alondra Guevara sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico.

The crash is still under investigation.
