Texas DPS Troopers Arrest Two People in Drug Bust Near Amarillo
The Texas Department of Transportation has made a drug bust on Monday near Amarillo, Texas.
Texas DPS Troopers seized close to 22 pounds of THC products, eight pounds of marijuana and over two pounds of fentanyl.
The drug bust was made by the Texas Highway Patrol at around 5:29 p.m., when a trooper stopped a 2019 Kia Rio for a traffic violation.
The Kia was traveling east on I-40 near Conway, Texas, just east of Amarillo. A DPS canine was the one to sniff out the drugs inside the vehicle.
The driver, 26-year-old Wanda Smith and 25-year-old Lakayla Walker, who were allegedly transporting the drugs from Las Vegas to Alabama, were both arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
They're currently being held in the Carson County Jail.
