Movie theaters in Lubbock are celebrating National Cinema Day (September 3rd) with a bang.

Get ready, Lubbock -- here come free and $1.50 movies.

When it reopens, Cinemark’s Tinseltown location at 82nd and University will not be showing new releases right away. Instead, the theater will be showing classic movies for $5 per person.

Movie fans desperate for the theatrical experience can rent a theater.

The chain expects to fully reopen theaters by the middle of next month.

Beginning this Thursday (Feb. 22), you won't be able to tote just any size bag/purse into the movies at Cinemark's Movie 16 and Tinseltown in Lubbock.

Cinemark had us out to check out their brand new Cinemark XD: Extreme Digital Cinema theater and we were all blow away! This is the only way to do a movie in Lubbock.
