TABC Cancels Liquor Permit for Lubbock’s Level Nightclub
Lubbock's Level Nightclub, which was the site of a double homicide on New Year's Day in 2020, has lost its license to sell alcohol.
Just after midnight on January 1st, two people were shot following an altercation inside the club, located at 1928 Buddy Holly Avenue. Both victims, 24-year-old Dedrick Traylor and 17-year-old Garyontae Shephard, died from their injuries.
The owners of the nightclub have agreed to the cancellation of their permit following an investigation by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
TABC initially suspended the club's liquor license for 7 days immediately after the shooting, and extended the suspension to 90 days on January 10th.
This latest action permanently cancels the club's liquor license. It's unknown if the club will re-open.
