Susan G. Komen Celebrates Breast Cancer Survivors With Pink Balloon Release [Video]
During the 2014 Race for the Cure in Lubbock, the Susan G. Komen Foundation honored those women who continue to fight against breast cancer with a pink balloon release ceremony.
The tradition hammers home the fact that breast cancer is a disease that does not discriminate -- something both the survivors involved in the balloon release and those who took part in the race for the cure.
Each group of breast cancer survivors released their balloons according to the years they've fought the disease. The final survivor to release her balloon was Glenna, who has lived 51 years after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
As the longest survivor at the event, Glenna was given a free free round-trip ticket courtesy of American Airlines.
