The cost of going out is too dang high. Why not bring some furry entertainment to your house?

If you think you're ready to be a kitty-daddy or a kitty-mommy (why not brother or sister? Because that would be weird, okay), the South Plains SPCA had 40 cats ready for adoption. The cats have their shots and are spayed/neutered. The SPCA does have an adoption fee to help cover these costs, but it takes a lot of headaches, missed appointments and potentially unwanted offspring off your hands.

There are three times this weekend that you can check out the cream of the cat crop. The group will be at the Petsmart on Slide Road hosting adoptions Friday, June 24th from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 24th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  On Sunday, June 26th, you can check out the kitties at the SPCA building (8901 U.S. 87, #119) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hey, it doesn't hurt to look, right? You just may fall in love with one of these cats. Taking in a pet that's already been fixed is one of the most amazing things you can do. There's far too much unregulated breading out there, including occasions where otherwise loving pet owners just got caught up and forgot to have their pets fixed. We really could get our pet population to a tolerable level with just a little bit of elbow grease.

If nothing else, maybe as you make your way around Lubbock this weekend you could drop by and give the staff a little encouragement and a donation, or maybe just give one of the animals a little love until their fur-ever home is found.
