Short Film Featuring Lubbock’s Ralph’s Records Premiers Tonight
Ralph’s Records is an iconic Lubbock business that has been a staple here in the Hub City since they first opened in 1980.
Their broad collection of records, DVDs, video games, and more is something many Lubbockites love to peruse. They also love to get involved with the community by hosting a variety of music related events, allowing photo shoots in-store, and recently, allowing filmmaker Adam Paul Stone and director Brandon Bonnette to shoot their short film there.
This film has been in the works for around a year now, and is finally seeing it’s release tonight, February 14, 2023.
They have been posting behind the scenes photos and sneak peeks of the film over the past year, and I have been excited for it to finally premiere. After posting nothing to their official Instagram account since April of 2022, they finally announced the film will be available on YouTube at 8 p.m.
The film is called A Spinning Record and it looks to be a sort of love story between two characters portrayed by Kolby Roberts and Jillian Lyle. The description of the film shared with the trailer on YouTube is, ”Bell (Kolby Roberts) a record store worker runs into his high-school sweetheart Mia (Jillian Lyle) one day at work.” The trailer also repeats the phrase, “What are you running from?”
I’m excited to check it out when it premieres tonight, and get to see a piece of Lubbock in a new light.
If you are a fan of short films, Adam Paul Stone has a variety of ones he’s worked on available on YouTube, including trailers for current projects.
