Selena Gomez spent the past week in Kenya volunteering with WE Movement.

The 27-year-old's friend and podcaster, Racquelle Stevens, posted pictures of their week which includes snapshots with local villagers, on a construction site, at the local WE College and playing with elephants at the Sheldrick Trust Sanctuary.

"Spent the week in Kenya with @selenagomez & the most amazing team @wemovement," Stevens wrote on Instagram. "I will forever remember the beautiful people we met. I learned so much and was reminded that no matter where I am whether at home or anywhere in the world the greatest gift in life is being able to connect with people."

Stevens shared that the pair beaded jewelry with local mothers and visited the local school where they met students. "I learned that attending secondary school is a huge privilege with only 41% of girls attending," Stevens shared. "The girls we spoke with are so grateful for the opportunity to learn and we need to see this number increase."

Gomez previously appeared on Steven's podcast, Giving Back Generation, where the two spoke in-depth about social change and philanthropy.
