New Michael Jackson Album, ‘Immortal,’ Will Drop November 21
As the trial of Conrad Murray — the doctor accused of administering a drug that killed singer Michael Jackson — wears on and heartbreaking details emerge, MJ fans may find the news of an upcoming album to be a welcome bright spot in the darkness.
The collection, ‘Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour,’ drops on November 21 and will feature mashups, outtakes and new arrangements of fan favorites like ‘Thriller,’ ‘Beat It’ and ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,’ as well as an alternate recording of the Jackson 5′s ‘ABC.’
The record is the official soundtrack of the newly-launched Cirque du Soleil show Immortal, which bowed this week in Montreal. Show director Jamie King said, “The big, iconic songs are there, with some other songs mixed and matched throughout. There’s some younger Michael in there as well, ‘Ben,’ the Motown stuff … It’s a mixed bag of tricks in terms of songs.”
And for fans who can’t get enough of the King of Pop, Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert, celebrating his life and music, takes place this Saturday.
It’s also likely there are more posthumous Jackson audio releases on the way — Howard Weitzman, co-manager of the Jackson estate, said a 25th-anniversary package of ‘Bad’ may be out next year, and another album of previously-unreleased songs may make its way to stores, as well.
