Motley County Matadors to Play for Six-Man Division II State Championship
For the third time in 11 years, the Motley County Matadors will be playing for a Class 1A Division II (Six-Man Football) State Championship. Wednesday's game against Strawn will kickoff at 2pm at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. It will be televised statewide on Bally Sports Southwest (the former FOX Sports Southwest cable channel).
Our friends over at Dave Campbell's Texas Football provide the 'Tale of the Tape' for Wednesday's showdown between Motley County and Strawn. Both teams are undefeated at 14-0. In addition, Strawn had the highest scoring offense in Class 1A, Division II averaging 72 points per game. Motley County's defense is second best in Class 1A, Division II only giving up 14.7 points per game.
Motley County's other appearances in state championship games include: Motley County lost Class 1A, Div. II state championship games in 2019 & 2011 to Richland Springs, and won the 2007 Class 1A, Div. II State Championship by beating Woodson.
