Lubbock’s Hottest Season is Seeing a Major Cooldown
Mid July and August are typically the hottest part of the year here in Texas. We regularly see 100+ degree days, little rain, and it leaves us all wanting the cooler seasons to come faster.
If you are the type that hates the heat, then you are in luck, because Texas will continue to be much cooler than average in the coming days.
Why has is been cooler?
This is because a strong high-pressure system usually sits over Texas during this time, leaving us with 100-degree days. This atmospheric pressure has been shifting westward toward California, so we are seeing lower pressure over the Lone Star State, leading to cooler temps and higher chances of rain.
This weather event is impacting Texas the most from July 22nd to the 26th, but the current Lubbock forecast is showing a continuation of temps below 100 after the first few days of August.
