Lubbock police have arrested a man suspected of setting fire to his own home.

A two-story house in the 2400 block of 25th Street was deemed a total loss Thursday (January 23rd) after Lubbock firefighters put it out. The home was reported on fire just before 11:30 a.m. that same day.

No one was injured in the fire, but the two residents who lived there were displaced as the structure was considered to be unstable from fire and water damage.

On Thursday, the Lubbock Fire Marshal determined that the fire was intentionally set by one of the residents, 32-year-old Joseph Leland Huntsman.

"The fire occurred while two adults were in the house," Lubbock Fire Rescue said [via EverythingLubbock.com]. "One adult ignited a fire and then woke the second adult."

After the fire had been extinguished, evidence pointed to Huntsman, who was arrested and charged with arson, a first degree felony, and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.
