Lubbock Man Admits to Sexually Abusing 15-Year-Old Girl
45-year-old Jason Lee Guthery of Lubbock has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl, and now faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.
KAMC News reports that on December 30th of 2020, a truck driver saw the girl sitting on the side of the roadway in freezing weather. He picked her up and took her to a nearby truck stop.
When officers arrived, she told them that she was trying to get away from Guthery, who she also said sexually assaulted her and sent her sexually explicit messages.
The girl is said to be a relative of someone that Guthery knows, but details other than that weren't given.
According to the girl, she awoke on 2 separate occasions to Guthery touching her inappropriately while he touched himself. She even said that she watched Guthery touch himself multiple times in her view, sometimes multiple times a day. When exactly this all took place wasn't made clear in news reports.
After abusing the girl, it's alleged the Guthery texted her and asked her not to tell her mother, apologizing for what happened. However, after apologizing, it's said he still tried to get her to engage in sexual activity with him.
On top of his potential 10+ year prison sentence, Guthery has also been ordered to pay a fine of up to $250,000.
