I received an email from the superintendent of Lubbock ISD Dr. Kathy Rollo stating that Lubbock ISD and the Lubbock Health Department are now setting up times to vaccinate LISD workers and kids as young as 5 against COVID-19. It made me want to ask, how many people are going to get their 5-year-old child vaccinated?

I'm not against the vaccinations, but I am against mandating it to anyone of any age. I cannot see myself giving my kids a vaccine that I do not feel they need. Some cities in California are now mandating that kids as young as 5 get the vaccine if they want to go to school. I don't believe that's something we'll see in Lubbock, but I'm not sure if the Biden Administration will stop with the adult workers.

If President Biden can get the Department of Education involved, he could do the same thing to our school systems that he's doing right now to our healthcare systems. I know that I will not be taking my four kids to get the vaccine. I love my kids and I want to ensure their safety, and that's the reason I will not be giving it to them.

Every parent needs to make this decision for their kids with their doctor, not because President Biden told them to. For those of you who want to sign up to get your kids vaccinated with Lubbock ISD, here is a copy of the email that was sent to me:

"Dear Lubbock ISD family,

Lubbock ISD is proud to again be partnering with the City of Lubbock Health Department to provide COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Pfizer, Moderna, first, second and booster doses are available. Students, ages 5 years and older, are eligible for the vaccine, as well as any Lubbock ISD employee, and employees of Aramark, ECI, Durham, and Sodexo who work in conjunction with the district. (Children, ages 5 years and older, are now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.) In order to have the correct amount of doses from the City of Lubbock Health Department, you must make an appointment for each person who will be receiving a vaccine. Please click the link below for the campus and date you would like to make appointments.

If it is your second or booster dose, bring your vaccination card with proof of the first dose with you to the appointment. We cannot administer the second or booster doses without physical proof (not a picture) of vaccination.
