Update: The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office said late Saturday night that a suspect in the stabbing of two of its deputies had been apprehended.

According to LCSO, 28-year-old Miko Devon Butler was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on June 20th, 2020 after being located at a Motel 6 (909 66th Street).

LCSO Media Liaison Cpl. Patricia Holbert confirmed that four law enforcement groups worked together to locate and arrest the suspect: The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office's SWAT team, the Metro Crimes Unit, the Lubbock Police Department and Texas Anti-Gang Center (TAG).

During Butler's arrest, he suffered a K-9 bite and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Cpl. Holbert also provided an update on one of the two deputies who was stabbed in the incident near Walmart on South Loop 289. After receiving stitches to his arm, one deputy was released from the hospital, Cpl. Holbert said. The other deputy is still in the hospital. The extent of the deputy's injuries is unknown.

Original story: The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office and local authorities are searching for a man suspected of stabbing two deputies late Saturday afternoon.

According to the LCSO, both deputies were stabbed near the Walmart located at 4215 South Loop 289 by a single suspect around 6:40 p.m.

LCSO said via news release that the suspect, who is at large as of the publication of this story, is a 5'8" black male wearing a gray shirt and black pants. Two images of the suspect have been released by the office, which you can see above.

The suspect was last seen running north across South Loop 298, the sheriff's office said.

Both deputies were transported to a Lubbock hospital. The seriousness of their injuries is currently unknown.
