If you're looking to exponentially up your cosplay game, this is the event for you. Lubbock-Con is hosting a workshop featuring a few heavy hitters in the Special Effects industry.

Lubbock-Con's Special Effects Workshop goes down as a prequel to Lubbock-Con at 6 p.m. on February 22nd, 2019 at the MCM Elegante hotel (1801 Ave Q).

It features Russ Adams (SLC PUNK 2, #SCREAMERS, MONOLITHJim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge), Ivonne Escoto (AVP: Alien vs. Predator, Spider-Man 2, Tron: Legacy), Walter Welsh (Face Off, Season 10), and Marcel Banks (American Horror Story, Riddick).

Here's the event's description:

Lubbock-Con’s Special FX Guests from the SyFy Channel’s Face Off and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge will be doing live demonstrations of special effects makeup and build techniques while surrounded by attendees looking to learn how to take their abilities to the next level! Attendees of the event will be able to move around the creators as they work, ask questions, and witness these creations come to life right before their eyes.

This is a teaching demonstration workshop. Attendees are encouraged to take notes, photographs, and asking questions about the process, techniques, and materials these artists have chosen to use as they bring these projects to life.

Additionally, you can really get in the action:

Want to be even closer to the action? Purchase an assistant’s ticket to be at the side of your favorite creator. Want to be at the center of the action? Purchase a model’s ticket to be the model for one of the make-up artists creations. Assistants and models will be admitted 20 mins prior to the event to meet and prepare with the creators.

For this special ticketed effect, Russ Adams and Ivonne Escoto from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge will be fabricating large feathered wings and sharing lots of tips and techniques for creating creatures and cosplay. Watler Welsh and Marcel Banks from FaceOff will be doing makeup demonstrations, with Walter transforming his model into a mythical creature and Marcel using trauma special effect techniques to convince us his model has seen better days.

Tickets to this special event are available here.

Lubbock-Con happens Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24 at the Lubbock Civic Center (1501 Mac Davis). For tickets and more information, head over to Lubbock-Con's official website.
