Kelsee Pitman Celebrates National Taco Day With Velvet Taco’s Pho King

It's a taco lover's dream come true. October 4th is National Taco Day, and Velvet Taco in Lubbock is celebrating with a specially-made menu item.

Back in July, we told you about Velvet Taco's first-ever Weekly Taco Feature recipe contest. It's based on their staple Weekly Taco Feature, or "WTF," which changes every week and offers guests 52 chances each year to enjoy specialty tacos. Well, the winner of the contest has been chosen, and boy, did he submit a great taco.

It's called the Pho King taco and it was created by Dallas-based Velvet Taco fan Mark Jansen. This taco will only be available from September 28th to October 4th, 2022. The Pho King features ​​rotisserie chicken, bok choy, herb salad, pickled onions, pickled Fresnos, crispy garlic, rice noodles, hoisin, bean sprouts, and lime in a flour tortilla, served with a pho broth on the side.

Now that's my kind of taco. Where else could you find something like this?

I got to try the Pho King out for myself and it was everything I dreamed of. I'll probably have to go back again before it's gone for good. I think it's one of the best tacos they've had and it's just so original. I hope they decide to keep it around. If they don't, you better hurry up and try it now.

With Halloween around the corner, Velvet Taco is also hosting a costume contest. All you have to do is wear a Marie Antoinette costume to Velvet Taco and snap a picture. This could score you a $50 e-gift card. To enter, you must DM them your photo on Instagram @velvettaco.
