Texas is a large state full of a diverse group of people.   Some residents have an Ivy League education while others hold degrees, and those who graduated HS.  However, for some reason, Texas appears to have lower education levels in a recent study.

This study determined that only 31% of Texans have a bachelor's degree, close to 11% with a graduate degree, and less than 14% with a high school diploma, making Texas the 7th least educated state in the country.

However, this study does not account for those in Texas who have trained and learned a trade while on the job.  Many Texans bypassed a college education for a trade school including, HVAC, welding, drilling, truck driving, electricians, and many more trades.  Many of these trades require extensive knowledge and learning.  Most of these studies do not account for trades while looking at education.

Salaries: Men vs Women

According to this study, despite all the progress in breaking glass ceilings,  men are still making more than women with the same education. Men with a graduate degree make $30,000 more than women with the same degree.  For those with a Bachelor's Degree women make almost $25,000 less than men, and the trend continues through all education.

When looking at graduation rates and college educations in this study, it shows that Texas may be one of the most uneducated states, however, as mentioned earlier, it does not account for those who learned on the job through training.  Ironically, many individuals who did not pursue higher education earn more than those with a degree and remain in their chosen field.
