The United Supermarkets Arena was rocking on Saturday when Texas Tech hosted Cincinnati. Unfortunately for Texas Tech, the Red Raiders lost their first game of the season at home, 75-72.

It was a physical game that appeared to take its toll on the Red Raiders who had just come off a loss to TCU in Fort Worth. And while the sold-out crowd of 15,098 in attendance on Saturday were disappointed with the outcome of the game, some fans were disappointed and upset with an incident they say took place after the final whistle.

Tech Fans Say Big 12 Referee Behaved Aggressively

In the video below, a small group of Red Raider fans are gathered near the barricade as one group member describes a Big 12 referee's aggressive conduct.

As the male fan speaks to the camera, a couple seen in the stands behind them seem to hear what is being said and step forward to confirm his account of the Big 12 referee shoving the older man into the chairs.

"These refs are going to come in here and call an awful game and then shove an old guy through the chairs," the fan can be heard saying. "That's ridiculous."

Frustrations With Big 12 Officiating

While no further confirmed details regarding the alleged incident are available, the frustration expressed by the outraged fans is one of many rumblings of discontent when it comes to the collegiate refs.

While a ref allegedly getting physical with a fan is much worse than just complaining about a call, there has been a lot of angst towards refs is the Big 12 this season. Some of that is just complaints from angry fans when a call doesn't go their way. Additionally, when you have a conference like the Big 12 that is stacked with talent, nearly every call is a controversial one.

But it's not just fans expressing frustration with this season's refs.

Recently, Baylor Athletic Director Mack Rhoades had choice words for Big 12 refs after they ejected Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew for the first time in his 21-seasons with the Bears.

"This particular crew tonight did not match the level of this game, and that shouldn’t happen in this league.” Rhoades said to the Associated Press following the February 4 game.
