Steve Massengale Announces Campaign For Mayor of Lubbock
Lubbock City Councilman Steve Massengale announced on social media on Thursday that he intends to run for Mayor of Lubbock. The announcement from Massengale comes after current Mayor Tray Payne announced last week that he would not be seeking a second term.
Massengale is the current Councilman for District 4 and was first elected in 2016. Massengale won reelection in 2020. Before serving on the Lubbock City Council, Massengale was a member of the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2014. Massengale is also a business owner in Lubbock.
On Facebook, Massengale said his passion for Lubbock has driven his decision to run for Mayor.
The election for Mayor and City Council seats will be on May 4, 2024.
