Mark McBrayer Announces Campaign For Mayor of Lubbock
District 3 Lubbock City Councilman Mark McBrayer is tossing his hat into the ring to become the next Mayor of Lubbock. McBrayer joins a race already featuring one sitting Councilman, Steve Massengale, along with Adam Hernandez, and Stephen Sanders. Other potential candidates have picked up packets expressing their interest in running, but haven't officially announced a campaign.
McBrayer was elected to the Lubbock City Council in 2022. According to KAMC, McBrayer wants to focus on the most important issues to Lubbock citizens.
McBrayer and his wife have lived in the Hub City for more than 60 years, and he says his service is grounded in Lubbock values and focused on Lubbock’s future.”
“What is most important to citizens is keeping them safe and delivering basic, core city services, McBrayer said. “This means supporting our police and firemen, maintaining our streets and critical infrastructure, and enforcing city zoning laws and codes.”
The filing period for the Lubbock City Council is January 17 through February 16th. With McBrayer running for Mayor, his District 3 council seat will have a special election to fill the remainder of the term. That means citizens in Lubbock will vote for Mayor and citizens in Districts 2,4,6, and now 3 will elect a new councilman.
Election Day for local races is May 4th, 2024.
