Adam Hernandez Announces Second Campaign For Mayor

Community activist Adam Hernandez has announced he will run for Mayor of Lubbock in 2024. Hernandez will officially launch his campaign on Monday, December 4th with a press conference inside City Council Chambers at Citizens Tower in Downtown Lubbock.

Hernandez ran for Mayor in 2022 and received 18.61 percent of the vote in a five-person campaign. Tray Payne won that race with 67.67 percent of the vote that translate into about 12,961 votes.

According to a press release, Hernandez wants to "focus on developing a local government that works for all citizens and communities equally."

Mr. Hernandez says his platform will focus on developing a local government that works for all citizens and communities equally, regardless of where they live or their economic or social status, as well as making improvements in public health and safety. “Lubbock has done and still does many things well,” he said, “but there are areas where we can do better, and where we should do better”

Hernandez is a member of Lubbock Compact and took the leading role in a recent petition initiative to decriminalize marijuana possession within city limits.

Lubbock citizens will vote for Mayor along with Council Districts 2,4, and 6 in the May 4th Election. The first day to file for local races is January 17, 2024.
