The “Yellow Tape” Mystery: Why Your Local United Supermarket Just Got a Major Digital Face-Lift
When I mention things in Amarillo changing sometimes, I hear a collective moan. Change is not always a fun thing. I get that. There are some changes that are welcomed and even celebrated.
I started hearing about some changes coming to United Supermarkets. Something to do with their systems, and a new app was coming. I had the former app downloaded and used it a lot.
Out With the Old: Why the United System Upgrade Matters
I would open it and clip digital coupons before I headed to the store, because who doesn't want to save money? I will admit that sometimes the old app felt a little bit clunky. I had trouble finding what I needed, and for whatever reason, I had a hard time using it when I was actually in the store.
So, hearing that a new app was coming, I was a bit excited. I noticed a notification last week stating the gas pumps would be offline for maintenance. When I drove by a couple of locations and saw the yellow caution tape, I knew it was happening.
The stores were also going to close early to accommodate these changes. They were getting a new system, and part of that was going to make the app work better. I got the notification to download the new app, and I did right away. I even went down to other offices at work and shared the good news with anyone who would listen.
Phone Number Login: Simplifying the Digital Checkout
What is the difference? First, once you download the app, you have to log in. You don't have to look up your login information that you used with the old app. Instead, you simply enter your phone number, and the system sends a verification code to link your accounts.

You can still find your digital deals and reward points that you had with the previous app. You are given the opportunity to update your member information with a birthday and home address. Doing so will give you 100 reward points.
Family Sharing: How to Invite Others to Your Rewards Account
You can also now add family members as well. Under the member tab at the bottom, you will find 'Family members', that is where you can add just by giving an email address or phone number, and the invite will be sent to them. You can then easily share the same account.
Fuel Rewards Refreshed: No More Searching for Receipts
The biggest change that I am excited about is using your points at the gas pump. It used to be that you had to have the code at the bottom of your receipt for fuel rewards. That number never changed, but that is what you entered at the pump to take off the points and save money on gas.
Not anymore. Now all you have to do is enter your phone number. So much easier. I am really excited about these changes and can't wait to see how much easier everything is with the app. I am looking forward to my next trip to United Supermarkets to get my shopping done.
I will have my new app ready to go.
