Attention Amarillo Anglers: Why the Southeast Park Fishing Pier is Shutting Down Next Week
Our weather is all over the place in Amarillo. A lot of us were wearing short-sleeve shirts and even shorts on Christmas Day. We are not used to that. Our weather this year has been pretty mild so far.
We know that it can and probably will change. So when the weather is nice, we want to get outside more. The more we get out in the sun, the better we will feel. Being locked inside does increase our risk of getting sick. Germs tend to linger indoors, so getting outside whenever possible is the best move.
That is why we like the warmer weather we have been having. The parks are being utilized a whole lot this winter. Which means that when repairs are happening at our parks, it becomes a bigger deal, especially when the weather is this nice.
Closure Dates: January 26 to February 2
Recently, Amarillo Parks and Recreation has warned us about an upcoming repair:
Attention: The fishing pier at Southeast Park will be temporarily closed for repairs during the week of January 26th to February 2nd. We appreciate your patience while we work to replace the railing along the pier. Please refer to this post to find future updates.
The railing is an essential part to keep the public safe. It needs a little work, and winter is typically the best time to get it done, unless it's a winter like this one, where the weather has been nice enough to fish.
Can You Still Fish at Southeast Park?
There have been a lot more people enjoying the parks and enjoying the piers for fishing. So that is why this announcement is a little more important this year. If you want to still go out and fish, you can, but you just won't be able to get out on the pier.
Keeping Amarillo Parks Safe and Beautiful in 2026
Luckily, the repairs won't take long, and then everything will be back to normal. Just the way we like it in Amarillo.
