Lucky Lubbock! A Resident Won An Epically Massive Lottery Prize

A Lubbock resident got incredibly lucky- and recently claimed a prize from the Texas Lottery for a million dollars! Imagine what a life-changer that could be.

Perhaps wisely, the winner has chosen to remain anonymous, but if you are my friend you have to tell me and I promise I can keep a secret, even a million-dollar one. But you're buying the next round- that's only fair.

According to the Lubbock-Avalanche Journal, the winning ticket was purchased at Kwik Stop, located at 4719 58th St., and the game was "Millionaire Maker" which did its job for one lucky Lubbockite. It was #6 of 15 total million-dollar prizes, so you could still win it for yourself.

In case you're wondering, the winner won't see the entire million, as the lottery will likely withhold a portion of it for taxes:

All winnings over $5,000 are subject to tax withholding by lottery agencies at the rate of 24%.

I still wouldn't sneeze at 76% of a million.

The Texas Lottery was established in 1992 and has provided revenue to the Texas Education Fund and has an additional fund to assist veterans. In 2023, the Education Fund paid out over 2 billion dollars.
