Lubbock’s Hill Barbeque Returns With Pop Up “Throw Downs”
To the dismay of many meat enthusiasts, Hill Barbeque in Lubbock decided to call it quits back in mid-2024. The business, owned by Andrew and Jewel Hill started as a food truck in Levelland and leveled up until they were being mentioned in Texas Monthly and had lines around their 34th Street building here in Hub City.

Why Hill Barbeque Closed
According to a post on social media, the Hills decided to shutter their brick-and-mortar barbecue joint after an on-site injury in 2023 led to Andrew Hill needing time to heal "physically and mentally" with a move to another Texas city. However, if you have been following the Hill Barbeque page, you know that the Hills have had some one-off ordering opportunities for occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you can't wait that long, I've got great news for you.

A.B.'s Place Once A Month Cookout
The first cookout featuring Hill Barbeque will be on March 14th, 2026, at 1219 132nd Street. The event promises to be "a once a month, or once in a blue moon cookout with all the best Hill Barbecue smoked meats, smash burgers, music, cold beer….this is a true country bbq joint at my grandparents trailer park property in south Lubbock." However, with the initial enthusiasm I've already seen on social media, I'm willing to bet once a month beats out once in a blue moon.
How To Join The Fun
Interested in the cookout? You are highly encouraged to pre-order your plates on the Hill Barbeque Facebook page.
