If the Season Ended Today, What Seed Would Texas Tech Basketball Be?
CBS and the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee have released a top 16 projection for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, and it features three Big 12 teams in the top 16 seeds.
Texas Tech, Kansas and Trae Young, I mean Oklahoma, all received some love from the Committee's first projection. You might assume that the Big 12 leader had the best projection but that's not the case.
Starting at the top, the one seeds projected are Virginia, Villanova, Purdue and Xavier.
No surprises there.
With Texas Tech ranked 7th in the nation and leading the Big 12, Texas Tech fans expected to be in the second section of the reveal. But they would have to wait, as Kansas was picked to be the Big 12's highest-ranked team in March. Joining Kansas as the two seeds were Auburn, Duke and Cincinnati.
Texas Tech fans wouldn't have to wait much longer though, as Texas Tech was given the projection of a 3-seed, and 10th overall. Texas Tech is joined by fellow 3-seed projections, Clemson, Michigan State and North Carolina.
The 4th and final quadrant of seeds featured the final Big 12 representative Oklahoma. Trae Young is joined by Ohio State, Tennessee and Arizona.
Texas Tech's 3-seed projection put them in the East Region along with Villanova, Duke and Ohio State.
The projection almost guarantees the Red Raiders will be tournament participants, but there are still six huge Big 12 games remaining on the schedule before we get to that point.
In order, here are the top 16 seeds projected for the NCAA Tournament:

2. Villanova
