Local and regional authorities have made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Lubbock back in August 2020.

According to a press release put out Thursday, September 17, police arrested hit and run suspect, 36-year-old Billy Jack Clayton of Brownfield, on Tuesday, September 15.

Clayton is accused of hitting a construction worker with his vehicle back on August 14, 2020. Police say the worker was walking in the area of Marsha Sharp Freeway and Upland Avenue when he was hit and taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Clayton was identified as the primary suspect after a joint investigation by the Lubbock Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Brownfield Police Department.

Clayton was arrested after being served a warrant by members of the Terry County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Terry County Jail.

He faces multiple charges, including illegal possession of a firearm by a felon, providing false identification, and for failing to stop and render aide after the August 14th accident. Clayton is being held in the Terry County Jail on bonds totally $300,000.
