‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Trailer Introduces Kim Basinger’s Elena Lincoln
The full trailer for Fifty Shades Darker, the adaptation installment of the massively popular Fifty Shades of Grey book series, was unveiled today (September 13), nearly 19 months after the first movie debuted in theaters (February 13, 2015).
Like the teaser that preceded the release of the full trailer, it features some heavy-handed firework imagery along with glimpses of the movie's main characters Christian Grey (played by Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), set to a Miguel cover of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love."
The full trailer introduces a thriller element to the latest installment, as Anastasia wakes up in Christian's bed and thinks she sees a woman watching over them. Kim Basinger also appears (she plays Elena Lincoln, a woman from Christian's past), and Johnson's Anastasia is presented with surveillance photos of herself. She runs around looking freaked out — by Christian himself, among other things — throughout the clip.
There's also some visual lingering on a lacy, grey (get it?) mask -- gifted to Johnson's Anastasia -- along with some sheer black tights and high heels. Plus, Dornan's Christian says the word, "Intrigued?" at one point in his signature whisper-speak. It's everything you'd expect from this franchise!
The film also released its first official poster for the forthcoming movie, which offers another look at that mask. Check it out below.
As is the case with erotica, it should be expected that Fifty Shades Darker will exhibit a hefty amount of sex scenes, though Johnson admits she’s grown tired of filming them.
“It's not ... comfortable. It's pretty tedious," she told Chrissie Hynde for Interview magazine. “Well, we’re not having actual sex. But I’ve been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I’m over it."
Check out the full trailer for Fifty Shades Darker above, and catch the movie when it hits theaters on February 10, 2017, just in time for Valentine's Day.
