Davis Martin Headlines Drafted Red Raiders On Day 3
We're halfway through day three of the 2018 MLB Draft, and day three has already seen its fair share of Red Raiders drafted.
Here's a look at who has been drafted so far on day three.
Davis Martin
Honestly, Davis Martin could have gone a lot earlier in the draft, but I'll tend to credit that to an up-and-down year he had this season. He is 7-5 with a 4.56 ERA in 15 starts this season. Martin has also racked up 71 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .255 batting average.
Ty Harpenau
Ty Harpenau has been a go to bullpen arm for Coach Tadlock this season, and his resume backs it up. Harp holds a 6-2 record on the year with a 3.47 ERA, he also is tied for the team lead in saves with three. Being only a junior this year, I think we'll see Harpenau back on the mound next year in red and black.
Caleb Kilian
Caleb Kilian has been absolutely terrific for the Red Raiders this season especially with the loss of Steven Gingery early in the season. Kilian has pitched in just about every situation you could imagine and has been very effective. He holds a team high nine wins and one loss in 18 appearances this season. His ERA is at 2.39 and he is holding opponents to just a .209 batting average.
Cody Farhat
Cody Farhat was the fourth Red Raider to be drafted on day three and was the first position player for the Red Raiders to be drafted. Farhat on the year holds a .292 batting average, seven doubles, three triples, five home runs and 36 RBIs for the Red Raiders. The junior has also shown his speed by stealing 16 bases this season.
Michael Davis
Michael Davis has been just about as solid as you could ask for from the shortstop position. He makes plays, that I only dream of making, routine. He is hitting .290 this season with 17 doubles and 11 homeruns. He also has drawn 31 walks and stolen three bases.
With Davis being a senior, he will more than likely report to the Minnesota Twins organization when his time in Lubbock comes to an end to pursue a career in the big leagues.
Dylan Dusek
Dylan Dusek has been very solid in his 17 appearances for Texas Tech this season. He has started three games this season and has three victories to his credit. He also boasts a 2.22 ERA in 28 innings of work. Dusek, like Michael Davis, is a senior this season, so he will report to the San Francisco Giants later in the year.
Zach Rheams
Zach Rheams has been absolutely MASHING the ball as of late, hitting two home runs in the clinching game against Louisville to put the Red Raiders in the Super Regional.
On the season, Rheams is hitting, .347 with nine doubles, 16 home runs and 53 RBIs. He's also a senior on this ball club, which means that he will accept his contract to become part of the New York Mets farm system later in the summer.
You can catch all of these draftees in action over the weekend as the Red Raiders take on the Duke Blue Devils in a Super Regional matchup at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park with a trip to Omaha on the line. Game 1 will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
