It's clear that Texas Tech wide receiver Cameron Batson is a member of the totally unofficial Patrick Mahomes fan club dubbed The MaHomies.

During Texas Tech's weekly press conference in Lubbock, Batson touted Mahomes' performance against K-State Saturday night in Manhattan as "a phenomenal job." Despite the 6-point loss, Mahomes earned even more respect from his teammates as he suited up and delivered despite the shoulder injury he suffered in Lubbock the week prior.

"Pat did a great job with everything going on as far as his shoulder," Batson said. "He's definitely tough and he'll do anything for this team. He puts his body on the line for this team."

Many expected Mahomes' injury to keep him out for at least one game even after his father revealed on Facebook that his son wouldn't need surgery. But Kingsbury clearly felt the junior quarterback was healthy enough to play. This decision speaks volumes for both Kingsbury's faith in the starter and Mahomes' ability to consistently put up big points.

Texas Tech takes on West Virginia Saturday, Oct. 15 at Jones AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Listen to the pre-game show Countdown to Kickoff with 1340 The Fan's Rob Breaux and Rob Snyder on the radio at 1340 AM or online via our streaming player.
