Azealia Banks has been going through it on social media. After her Twitter account was suspended last week, the Harlem rhymer went on her Instagram page to apologize for her racist rant against former One Direction singer Zayn Malik.

To quickly recap, Banks blasted Zayn on Twitter for allegedly copying her style in his new video for “Like I Would.” The pop crooner disagreed but wished her well, which sparked Banks to tweet out a series of racially sensitive remarks to the singer. This led to her getting kicked off London’s Rinse | Born & Bred Festival and unwarranted attention on social media. Then Twitter suspended her account.

"Now that the immediacy of the infamous incident has worn off, I've had sometime to decompress & take a more rational assessment of things. I want to extend my sincerest apologies to the world,” Banks wrote on her IG page.

“Employing racial/sexist slurs/stereotypes in attempt to make fun of or degrade another person or group is absolutely unacceptable and is not fair or fun for anyone,” she continued. “Allowing my anger to get the best of me, I've managed to insult millions of people without reason. And for that I give my deepest apologies."

Banks further apologized to her fans who were deeply hurt by her remarks. She told one fan that she never branded herself as a black advocate. "I'm a black person who happens to have something to say," she wrote. "A black person with grievances. A black person who can be both intellectual and ratchet."

Hopefully, Banks will get her Twitter account reinstated and can stay productive with her music.
