Back in April, Alamo Drafthouse announced it would be re-opening sometime in July, which of course has since come and gone. For Alamo fans, this raised some alarms, as it seemed that Alamo may have been facing more obstacles to reopening than it would be able to overcome. The parking lot has been so...lonely, and has been for so long.

Lubbock's Alamo Drafthouse has now announced yet another reopening date, this time set for September 3rd, 2021, according to the theater's website. However, there's a bit of a disclaimer that the date is tentative.

Alamo will be following COVID-19 procedures, which will likely be stronger than locally mandated ones:

Auditorium seating and mask rules will be consistent with either local, federal, or Alamo Drafthouse’s distancing limitations – whichever is stronger.

If a guest displays signs of illness during a screening like persistent coughing or sneezing, we may drop by to check on them. If they appear to be sick, we may ask them to come back another time. Any guest who needs to leave because of illness will have their tickets and food refunded.

The menu will be streamlined, and guests will have the option of ordering food prior to the screening when tickets are purchased either through the website or the app. Guests will still have the option to order on the order card as per usual.

Some really big movies have come and gone already, and I'm honestly surprised Alamo Drafthouse didn't open in time for The Suicide Squad. However, if they meet their September 3rd date, they'll be able to release the highly-anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage and arthouse fave Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch in September. Coming this October is the most important film of the year (to me, anyway), so they better be open in October for Dune.
