The folks in Lubbock love their trucks, A LOT! But what happens when you lose steering? Nothing good will ever come of that.

General Motors is recalling over 690,000 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks due to a defect that could result in you losing your ability to steer.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (There is a mouth full!)”

“General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety

exists in certain 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD

vehicles. These vehicles may experience a temporary loss of electric power

steering (EPS) assist followed by a sudden return of EPS assist, particularly

during low-speed turning maneuvers. The loss and sudden return of EPS assist

typically happens within a 1 second period and is caused by an electrical/

software issue.”

GM has stated they will send dealer letters and letters to consumers when the recall remedy is ready for deployment.
