I'll be honest, I haven't been on a first date since high school and that wasn't very recent. But even for those of you who are married now you can always pretend like its a first date. And if you have a first date looming and are freaking out because you're clueless as to what to do, I'm here to help. Now excluding the typical staples of most first dates, dinner-movies etc. I'm going to share some different ideas of things to do in our fair city, and around it.

1. Playground Picnic. Lubbock has a ton of parks with pretty nice playgrounds that sometimes have benches you can use but always have sand to sit on. Pretend you're at the beach or something, especially since some parks have lake views. and as long as the police can't see your botle of wine from the street, and you're out by 11 the city curfew, you should be fine.

2. Joyland Amusement Park. True its small compared to your Six Flags and your Disneylands but its got a bunch of fun rides, and this way you get to test out your dates willingness to ride crazy rides. Read into that what you will, but the Mad Mouse is too much for their constitution you can cancel all future Six Flags vacation plans.

3. The Bodies Exhibit. Now if your date is squeemish this might not be for you but its cool and its not here for long.

4. Caprock Winery. Check out the winery, do some tastings, catch a little buzz, take the tour, catch a little buzz, buy some very nice wine for later on in the night. And if you sign up for their email list they have wine pairing classes on Wednesdays with a 5 star chef Quang-Lee and you get to try a bunch of wine that you might never have tried before.

5. GET OUT OF TOWN! I know that this is supposed to be about 5 things to do in Lubbock, but one of the best things to do in Lubbock is to get out of it. whether you're going just to the edge of the caprock for a great sunset, or you drive into New Mexico for a view of some mountains, or up to Palo Duro for some hiking and a picnic, one of the best parts about Lubbock is all the cool stuff we have surrounding our town. You don't have to stay here but you don't have to drive 5 hours to get somewhere cool, just an hour or 2 and you're set as long as you know where you're going and don't get lost, you're set! Now get out there and impress your date, no you don't have to credit me for it either. Just keep it KISS for me and we're good.
