5 Things I Learned In Memphis Visiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
I had the fortunate experience of visiting Memphis, Tennessee over the weekend to tour the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. While there were some touching moments of sadness, there were also other memorable experiences of hope, joy and laughter. Here are some of the highlights.
- 1
Danny Thomas
Danny Thomas' heart and dreams were huge.
- 2
John Oates
John Oates has written a LOT of great music over the years, and the songwriter's dinner proved that!
- 3
Amazing Blues Band
The local house band that dropped in to play (only for tips!) completely blew me away. Other Blues musicians take note.

The Cap
Captain Sullenberger is THE MAN! This guy gave a great firsthand account of how he landed the 737 in the Hudson River shortly after take-off with every passenger alive.
The moral of his one-hour speech was "at the end of the day before you die, you won't be counting your money to see how you did, you'll be asking yourself 'What did I give back?'"
It was awesome and inspiring to hear him speak.

Memphis BBQ
We went to the famous Rendezvous BBQ. The meat, while well (almost over) seasoned with a dry rub, was quite dry. While they've nailed coleslaw, Texas BBQ is still the BEST!
