Easter weekend is finally here and that means you can finally UNgive up your item(s) or habit for Lent. Some of the most popular I've heard of people giving up this year include: giving up alcohol, chocolate, cokes, smoking, sweets, eating out on the weekends, or even, dare I say it, facebook! Next year, make your Lent offering interesting and unique to help you stick with it from day 1 to 40.

Next year for Lent, instead of doing the usual, try making things interesting for yourself by giving up or vowing something unique. Here are a few ideas:

1. Never look for that front parking spot. Park in the back. Not only will it give you a couple more steps on the odometer you purchased for your New Years' Resolutions, maybe it will help take the stress out of finding the coveted front row spot and get you in the store in a better mood.

2. Give up swearing. I used to hear this one from adults a lot when I was younger. That they were giving it up for Lent and for good, but apparently it didn't stick because there are a lot of guilty folks my age that have picked up on it, too. Try it! I bet it's a lot harder than you think!

3. Designate a certain color of food not to eat each day of the week. Except Friday, of course, because you're already giving up meat. This one can be fun and might help you discover foods you haven't tried before.

4. Put your cell phone in the glove box. This one, for obvious reasons, is an awesome thing to try because it saves lives. Put your cell phone in your glove box before you even put the vehicle into drive. With the phone all the way across the vehicle, it ensures that you stay off the phone and keep your eyes on the road.

5. Take a road trip! Try to go see a family member you haven't seen in awhile or just be adventurous and visit a town within an hour drive away from your home that you've never visited before and explore. You never know. You may discover yourself a new favorite restaurant or secret weekend getaway.

These are just a couple of unique ideas to help you get started. No need to be ashamed if you didn't last this year's "Lent season" the entire 40 days. Take a few tips, spice it up, and good luck next year!
