The wife and I went to see the new Christopher Nolan's new sci-fi movie "Interstellar" on Saturday. This "stellar" movie was three hours well spent!

I'd seen mixed fan and critic reviews, with one of my Facebook friends proclaiming the flick is "three hours of awful." Intrigued by the trailer, I had to go see for myself.

Sometimes when a sci-fi flick comes out boasting amazing technological graphics, it misses the all important character development and story line. Or a thriller will be so edge-of-your-seat that you leave the theater wondering 'what the heck did I just see?'

"Interstellar" had the best of both worlds without overdoing anything.

Starting with a heart-pounding chase scene through a corn field and building with a great story line that those of us who have experienced a true dust bowl could relate to, the movie still offered plenty of character building, highlighting in particular the love and compassion of a father and his children.

If there was one drawback, it seemed like the writers of the film just couldn't find a way to get out of the story.

"Interstellar" covered all the emotions, and over the course of three hours I found myself anxious, angry, shocked, laughing at the quick wit and experiencing an overwhelming sense of sadness.

If there was one drawback (and not to give any spoilers), it seemed like the writers of the film just couldn't find a way to get out of the story. The last 45 minutes seemed far less plausible than the first first two hours. That, and Matt Damon's deranged character seemed more like an afterthought than a sub plot.

All in all, "Interstellar" is definitely worth the three hours time investment and the ticket price. See it on the big screen now!
