Spring is tornado season in Texas, and it can be a scary time, especially if a tornado touches down near where you live....A tornado near Abilene, Texas touched down on May 2, 2024 and stood completely still for about 20 minutes.

About a year and a half ago Lubbock installed tornado sirens, and Texas Tech had them long before that....And now the confession, I have NEVER heard a tornado siren in this town, for a test or an emergency.
